Life-saving Angioplasty Services
Diagnostic catheterization allows us to diagnose any stenosis, or narrowing, of the arteries of the heart. If the narrowed area is repairable, then our staff and physicians are qualified and trained to perform an angioplasty. An angioplasty involves placing a small balloon into a narrowed area of an artery and slowly expanding it to open this area. Once the area is opened, a small metallic wire mesh known as a stent, is placed into that area to help keep the blood flow moving through the artery, and the heart muscle functioning properly.

Electrophysiology is the study of the electrical system of the heart. If a problem is diagnosed, one of several options can be performed. Either an ablation, the creation of a lesion to stop the conduction of an "extra" electrical pathway, can be performed, or a pacemaker, defibrillator, or a bi-ventricular device may be implanted. These keep the heart beating at a normal pace, detect any irregular heartbeats, or may even attempt to help the heart function more normally.

Interventional Radiology Services
Peripheral angioplasty—the opening of a blocked blood vessel with a balloon and stent. This is similar to our cardiac angioplasty.

Thrombolytic therapy—injection of clot-busting drugs at the site of the clot.

Nephrostomy—drainage of catheters for patients with kidney problems caused by obstructions by masses or tumors.

Fistulagrams—to detect any area of narrowing that could possibly disrupt blood flow and intervene with a dialysis patient's care.
